Participants will learn how to develop students who are mathematically proficient by introducing mathematical concepts prior to procedures. Additionally, participants will learn techniques for moving away from teaching procedures first to teaching a blend of concepts, procedures, and applications.

Using Smartphones and Tablets in the Math Classroom

In this workshop, we will explore the educational benefits of incorporating technology with the Common Core State Standards for mathematics, with particular attention to CCSS Math Practice 5: “Use appropriate tools strategically.”

In this workshop, participants will learn to make this shift, discovering how to turn an ordinary worksheet into a meaningful, rigorous task.
